About the Author
Hello, my name is Dave Mitchell and I am a Dietetics major at a Eastern Michigan University a Student Member of the American Dietetic Association) with an avid interest in nutrition, as well as running and web design. I decided to combine all three interests to create this site, a place to meet other health-minded people, share your success stories and use interactive tools to help keep yourself in the best shape possible.
About The Site
This site was designed to provide free online tools to help people eat and exercise more effectively. There are tools here that will allow you to track your daily food intake and see what nutrients you are getting as well as logging your daily workouts to show you just how many calories you are burning. We also have a database of outdoor fitness locations, a database of upcoming races and other athletic events, as well as a full line of social networking tools. You will need to sign up for a free account to use all of the features of the site.
The site is a "free-time project", with lots more features planned for the future as my schooling permits, however I am always looking for your suggestions on how to improve things around here. You can reach me HERE if you have any comments or ideas on how to improve the site.

As a registered user, you will have access to all site features (registration is free). The system is set up like a social networking site, build around serveral great databases of health and fitness information. The site is designed to help keep you on track with a healthy lifestyle, encouraging you to share your results with the world (or a small group of friends if you prefer) - the site has strong privacy features intact, If you want to keep the information to yourself, you can.

"The "Fitness Center" allows you to keep detailed records of your daily food intake as well as your daily exercise regime. You have the option of updating your personal stats (measurements, weight, etc), looking at your food or exercise log, and looking at detailed analysis reports of your health.

Your food log allows you to easily keep track of the foods you eat on a daily basis. Search through our database of over 40,000 foods and get full nutritient information on all of them. Our easy-to-use interface makes counting calories a snap.

The exercise log has MET values for over 500 exercises, simply pick the exercise, and the duration - a scientific formula will calculate your approximate calories burned, and track them for use in conjunction with your food log analysis reports.

Get full detailed analysis of all aspects of your diet, including monitoring levels of macronutrients, fat/proteing/carbohydrate intake, and making sure you are getting enough water.

Find out exactly where you stand on all your vitamins and minerals for the day.

We can help you calculate your body fat percentage, find out just how much food and what types you need to be eating each day. Also you can find out the optimal heart rate levels to make your workouts more efficient than ever.

Find out what types of antioxydants and phytochemicals you are getting in your diet, as well as getting a graphical representation of your calorie intake/expenditure for the day. Your caloric budget will be displayed, showing how much you can eat with the exercise you have done for the day.

This site will also calculate your body mass index (BMI).

Stay on top of the latest health, fitness, nutrition and running news as hundreds of new articles are indexed daily from all of the major new agencies as well as fitness and running magazines.

Advanced news search features allow you to search our database of thousands of different topics in the health and fitness categories. New stories are automatically added every hour.

If your height/weight statistics are not set to private, you can share them with other users interactively in your message forum posts. Of course if they are set to private, nobody will see your personal information but you.

The site has a fully featured built-in instant messanger that will allow you to have chats with members of your buddy list when they are on the site as well. You can sent invites to a group chat, or pick only specific users to allow in.
